Throughout the year we will be looking at the following topics:

History: Britain's settlement by Angle-Saxons and Scots; British History WW2 and Ancient Greeks.

Geography: Climate Zones, Biomes and Vegetation belts (The Amazon) and The World. See below for more information on our Geography topics.

Biomes and Vegetation Belts

Describe and understand key aspects of: climate zones, biomes and vegetation belts. Locate regions and describe features studied. Identify the position and significance of latitude, longitude, Equator, Northern and Southern hemisphere.

Understand the geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of a region of South America – Amazon. Describe types of settlement and land use, economic activity including trade links and the distribution of natural resources – energy, food, minerals and water.

Understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of a region or area within South America. Compare and contrast the local area. Locate the world’s countries, using maps to focus on South America; concentrate on its environmental regions, key physical and human characteristics, countries and major cities.

 

The World- Focus on a country e.g. Greece

A locality in a European Country – Understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of a region or area in a European country. Look at types of settlement and land use, economic activity including trade links and the distribution of natural resources e.g. Energy, food, minerals and water.
