Each child has their own Homework Book and Diary. Homework will be given on a Wednesday and needs to be handed in on the following Monday. It needs to be completed in the Homework Book, well presented and with neat, joined up handwriting. Don't forget House Points will be awarded for each piece completed and handed in on time. There will also be bonus House Points for outstanding pieces of work.
Maths homework will consist of the skills that pupils have learnt over the week.
English will be a 2 week rolling program.
Pupils should read at least 4 times per week. Each child will have their own individual reading book to help them achieve this. Parents need to sign the homework diary each time this is done. Diaries will be checked and finished books exchanged each Tuesday. House points will be given for reading and entered into a prize draw at the end of term.
Each Monday, pupils will receive up to 12 spellings to learn at home based on the spelling rule or pattern we will be learning in class that week. There will be a test the following Monday including an additional 3 unseen spellings following the same rules.
By the end of Year 4, children should know ALL timestable facts. Each Friday, they will be tested on the timestables that they are learning. There will be a "Challenge Test" for those that know all timestables where they will be able to apply their knowledge to larger numbers and problems.
At times, pupils may bring home additional pieces of work based on topic work. These will be written in the Homework Diary and have a completion date.
26/10/16 There will be no homework over the half term holiday. Thank you for all your hard work this term.
Please continue to read your reading book and practise your new spellings.
