Today, we met as a house for the first time this year and met the new members of our House.
As it is the Year of Mercy ( a time for the Church itself and for Catholics everywhere to show mercy and compassion, in thought and in deed, and focus on forgiveness, reconciliation and doing good in concrete ways for the needy and those on the margins of society), we have been looking at how we can help the homeless.
We found out about a Charity called The Salvation Army who help homeless people. They talk to them out on the streets, offer them help, food and clothes, places to stay and beds to sleep in. We also found out that we can help by donating money, unwanted clothes and toys and taking them to the Salvation Army Charity shop on Pall Mall in Chorley.
We then split into two groups. EYFS and KS1 decorated "Helping Hands" and KS2 wrote prayers for the homeless and found out more facts about The Salvation Army.
