There are several different categories of governor, each appointed in different ways. These are: Staff governors elected by those who are paid to work at the school,
Parent governors are usually parents (or have parental responsibility) of children at the school, Foundation governors appointed by Archdiocese and ensure the continuing Catholic ethos and vision of the school.
Local Authority (LA) Governors appointed by the LA on the basis of the skills they can bring to support the effective governance and success of the school.
Associate Members, whilst not Governors, provide additional expertise and perspective.
Each Governor sits on the main governing body but also is involved in a sub-committee, according to their interests and strengths. Every class has their own nominated governor to share their learning with, for example through visits or inviting them to special class and school events. Each class governor will remain with the class as they move up through school.
