Teaching Assistant - Mrs Doherty
We hope that your child enjoys their year with us! There are lots of things to discover and enjoy, and we look forward to sharing in your child's 'learning journey'.
Dear Parents,
I just wanted to reassure you all that whatever you are doing at home with your child is contributing to their learning. I am Tweeting activities primarily to do with Phonics and Maths, as these are specific areas of learning that you may feel your child needs guidance with. However, you will be using Phonics and Maths in your daily interactions with your child. For example, weighing ingredients for baking, counting out how many sets of knives and forks to lay at the table, helping to read a shopping list etc.
All children are different and learn at different paces. I have tried to provide activities that will enable children to practise skills and extend their learning. However, if your child is not ready for any of the activities, I have tried to give you a range of songs and activities that revisit skills and can be practised repeatedly whatever your child's ability. For example letter formation, number formation and letter sounds.
I have provided links to some of the songs that we sing regularly in school (don't sing them all in a day...they are just options!) if you press on the Home Learning Resource link below.
Don't forget you have access to Espresso, Small Talk and Phonics Play websites (logins are in the 'Emergency School Closure Information') you don't have to follow my guidance. You can have fun with any of the Foundation Stage activities.
I would also love to see some of the learning that you are doing on the 'Timetable' (making models, playing in sand and water etc) in your Tweets!
I do not want to overload you with information, but I also don't want you to feel like you have nothing to do with your child at home.
Please take care and stay safe,
Mrs Hudson
Having fun at our first school disco!
Welcome to our new children!
